I just DL the miniMIZE and i love it it worked just fine....until i installed the "windowblinds" i tried to activate the miniMIZE althought there is an icon on the toolbar it seems that it just stopped working...

Is there any compatibility issue with these 2 programs...???

Great little prog but as with others above I can't really use due to various bugs - I have the same problems as Hubert.

One thing I have noticed is that programs that minimize to the system tray (e.g. Locate, and AZZ Cardfile) seem to stop miniMIZE from working (could just be that it has stopped working anyway ?).

Am also loosing the size setting between boots, but If I change the size the layout grid also seems to go haywire and the thumbnails start to overlap or have weird placement.

It would be useful to be able to specify the placement values for the first thumbnail (possibly using x,y co-ordinates) and then choose a pattern for placement (e.g. column, row, 5x5 grid etc.)

Thanks for your reply. I do indeed use a dock, ObjectDock (free version) by Stardock. However, I do not have it set to display minimised windows in it, just a pre-set list of my favourite apps. I investigated this further and it does seem to be some incompatability between miniMIZE and ObjectDock. miniMIZE seems to work absolutely fine when I close ObjectDock, but starts playing up again when I run it again.

Hope this will help you to find the problem.

Any news yet on when the next beta will be released too?

No don't currently use a dock, the only progs I can think that might affect miniMIZE are Ubericons from PunkSoftware and possibly KanaLauncher (Program Launcher that responds to Edge of screen hotspots). But I have tried start up without them and still get same problems.

Have been playing around and it's possible that miniMIZE may stop functioning if it is trying to create a thumbnail for a running process. E.g. Firefox (1.5b) minimizes as you would expect, but if I set it to open a number of tabs and then try to minimize whilst it is still opening the tabs no thumbnail is produced and miniMIZE seems to stop functioning.

Just a guess (I'm a DBA not a programmer).

So for example can you startup miniMIZE, check it is working, then leave it running for a while, maybe like a few hours, without doing anything other than starting something like notepad to check it is still working. That would be great.

As for a new beta, I have had one or two, internal betas but not public betas as changing things to fix bugs and add features has introduced new bugs. When I get the core stable again, I will release a new public beta. miniMIZE developer ~ Donate to miniMIZE
