Every now and again, I get this funny email telling me that I have updated my aquaria account, and it has a funny attachment. Seeing as how I run the aquaria.za.net site, I know for a fact that firstly, the account that the email claims to have been sent from, does not exist and secondly, even if I did update my password, there would be absolutely no reason for there to be an attachment. The final problem with this whole thing is that I log into the site basically every day, so I also know that my password has not been changed. I am posting this for one reason. To inform people who have signed up with this site (for various reasons) that this is a virus hoax and is not being sent by this site or by anyone directly involved with this site. I doubt that anyone other than myself has actually recieved this mail (I am pretty sure that it is because my email address is known) however I just wanted to be sure that people know about this. The email I received looks like this: Dear user illumination,
You have successfully updated the password of your Aquaria account.
If you did not authorize this change or if you need assistance with your account, please contact Aquaria customer service at: admin @ aquaria . za . net
Thank you for using Aquaria! The Aquaria Support Team
+++ Attachment: No Virus (Clean) +++ Aquaria Antivirus - www.aquaria.za.net (Note I added the spaces to the mail address) The attachment is a zip file called "accepted-password.zip" which contains the W32/Mytob-AS virus. The important thing to be aware of is that on Windows XP, just hovering over the zip file with the mouse attempts to run the virus inside the zip (Well, ok, I don't think it is attempting to run it, but it is accessing the file, and my virus software didn't like that). This is what Sophos Anti-virus had to say:
For more information, you can go to the Sophos website. |

I am completely fed up with spam comments. I woke up this morning and had to delete over 100 that weren't there on Friday. So I have implemented comment security because I can't spend my life cleaning the comments. Current comment security is simple an image with hidden text that you need to enter when you post a comment.
I hope this isn't a problem for people who do want to post comments (not that many people do). If this doesn't work, the next step will be to force people to register to comment, which I don't want to do, and the final step will be to disable comments all together (which I really don't want to do). So we will see, only time will tell. I hope anyone who want's to comment understands.

Finally, I have released the third beta of miniMIZE. I'm not going to say too much about it, you can read about it on the project page, or in previous posts. Go get it! |

I have been really busy with work and real-life lately that I haven't been able to work on miniMIZE as much as I would have liked. However I have worked on it and I think I have managed to fix a major issue as well as implement some highly requested features. The next beta should be along soon (just waiting for some beta testing to be done by my internal testers) and will include: - Basic positioning of the thumbnails
- A fix for the thumbnail levels
- Clean-up after applications that crash
And hopefully - A fix for the people who can't get miniMIZE to start and people who experience miniMIZE stopping after a undetermined amount of time
Only time will tell about the latter, but I have a feeling that it might be fixed. |

You may have noticed that the site has been down for the last 24 hours or so. Unfortunately I was trying to be clever and keep my CMS up todate, but the upgrade toasted the site. It took me a while to find the easiest way to get things working again, but I have. Once again, if you find any funnies, please give me shout on the forums or contact page. Edit: Ok, so I finally got the update installed. Turns out it was a problem with my ftp program. |
